Bulletguy
jumpstart - 2019-11-11 8:31 AM Yes I understand that, but the contents are known and they are going to publish it but not yet . Not much of a story really. J/start....the full contents are not known because Johnson vetoed publication of the report to stop it being made public before the GE. GCHQ, MI5 and MI6 have all given evidence to the Intelligence and Security Committee about Russian attempts to interfere in the 2016 EU referendum and the 2017 general election. Downing Street was sent a final draft on 17 October and had been expected to sign off the report by the end of last week. Grieve said: “The protocols are quite clear. If the prime minister has a good reason for preventing publication he should explain to the committee what it is, and do it within 10 days of him receiving the report. If not, it should be published.” The electorate have a right to know fully about the details before the GE....not after. There can only be one reason Johnson is preventing publication. John52
Hillary Clinton has called Downing Street’s suppression of a report into potential Russian infiltration of British politics “damaging, inexplicable and shaming”. The 2016 US presidential candidate told the Guardian it was “incredibly surprising and unacceptable that in your country there is a government report sitting there about Russian influence and your current government isn’t releasing it”. The potentially incendiary report by the intelligence and security committee has already been approved by the intelligence agencies. Downing Street was sent a final draft on 17 October and had been expected to sign off the report by the end of last month. However, No 10 indicated that the parliamentary report would not be made public before the election. The report specifically examines attempts by Russia to affect the outcome of the 2016 Brexit referendum. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/nov/11/uk-government-delay-of-russia-report-is-shaming-says-clinton

We won't know if it's a storm in a teacup until we've seen the report. Certainly seems to me that there is something in there that the government don't want the public to know about BEFORE the election.
