Rapido 924f 2.8 2004 wing mirror

Hi all,

We are newbies and found your forum which we've already had so much help from.

Our question is, does anyone either have, or know where we could get a new drivers side wing mirror from at a more sensible price than £1000 Inc V.A.T. ? That quote was from Brownhills who I believe are usually quite reasonable for motorhome spares.

Long story short; On only our second propper outing in our motorhome we visited Brighton then Eastbourne and on our way back we encountered a very unsporting lorry driver who while passing us at a very narrow point of the road failed to slow right down and was WAY over our side of the road and proceeded to smash our drivers side wing mirror to bits. The outer casing is half missing, including the indicator but the motor and part that holds the mirror glass in is still there. Needless to say the actual mirror glass looks like a mirrored mosaic floor.

If anyone has any ideas of any kind please let us know. Can these be 3D printed for example?

Thank you all in anticipation.

David & Anna

I suspect you will end up going through a Rapido dealer, but the question has been asked on here before.

I think yours will be the upward facing "bus type" mirrors (i.e. support at the bottom - some Rapidos had downward ones).

If so, it is likely that they are of RBE manufacture - you might just Google on the offchance.

In the UK, this company deal with some RBE mirrors:

and it might be similar to that on p48.

They patently also deal with motorhomes:

...so it might be worth an enquiry.

Please see my thread about my experiences after our wing mirror was broken.

On here posted as "need a new wing mirror" Not sure of your type but do post if you need further info now that

"I know all about wing mirrors"

Not sure why Coastal Motorhomes come up so often as suggested sources............there are others

Never thought to ask if it was an A class :$

Like this...

Hi

Yea it's an A class, identical to the one on the image, layout is identical, the only difference is that a previous owner has moved the original 'upwards' mirrors and swapped them to the down position. To be clear, they're definitely the type fitted to a Fiat and not the downward type that seems to be fitted to the Mercedes variant :-)

The company (Carlyle Bus and Coach Company) mentioned in Robinhood’s posting of 8 December 2020 7:38 PM above as a possible mirror supplier has been suggested here before when replacing damaged A-class motorhome mirrors has been discussed.

In this 2019 thread

https://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/Ducato-wing-mirrors/51922/

forum-member RFC7’s posting of 4 May 2019 3:36 PM stated that Carlyle Bus and Coach Company was able to supply a replacement mirror for his 2016 Hymer A-class model for £225 when a Hymer dealership was asking over £900.

However, (like Robinhood) I’m doubtful that obtaining a replacement mirror for a 2004 Rapido 924F will be practicable other than from Rapido itself via one of their dealerships (and even then I’d be a mite surprised if Rapido still stocks them). There’s no point referring to suppliers of mirrors suitable for non-A-class motorhomes based on a Fiat Ducato - as the photo above shows, 924F mirrors are completely different.

924F mirror replacemnt came up on the MHFacts forum in 2009

https://forums.motorhomefacts.com/63-rapido-motorhomes/54660-rapido-924f-offside-rear-view-mirror-assembly.html

and it’s worth noting that - even 11 years ago - Brownhills was quoting £963.

It would be worth contacting Wokingham Motorhomes to see if they can help
