"'The BND estimates that China's information policy lost four to six weeks to fight the virus worldwide'."

So when did we know about the virus..

and how many months later was it when BoJo started thinking about testing and quarantine at the borders he had taken back control of *-)

Did you not use unreliable statistics to start this Boris bashing thread? >:-) ..............

No, I did not, I initially pointed out that the number of dead did not correspond to a death rate.

.

You have to remember Brian that Dave will support Boris, whatever he does, or doesn't do, simply because Boris is a Tory.

But if anyone has "weaponised" the pandemic it is surely you, with your fatuous claims that because it started in China it is the fault of the Chinese that the UK government isn't on the ball, and then dredging up dodgy mortality figures to "prove" its success - in terms of the number of our dead! Tasteless, or what?

You are aware of the title of this thread? ;-) .........

"UK now the HIGHEST death rate in Europe"

AND WHO STARTED IT? >:-) ..........

You even quote the part of Brians post which refers to your 'fatuous claims' and 'weaponising' thereby confirming your mad obsession! Own goal scored yet again!!

Actually you and Brian are just proving my point ;-) ........

Did you not use unreliable statistics to start this Boris bashing thread? >:-) .........

Pelmet, it's your constant references to China and looking for ways of excusing of our governments inept handling that don't help your case at all. As for statistics we currently have what we have via our own media and there is no denying it has not been well managed, that much has been crystal clear. China don't govern UK....we have our own government.

Whilst you prefer to ignore the FACT China was not only the source of the virus :-| .........

BUT also that they delibrately tried to cover it up and delay the rest of the WORLD finding out about it >:-( ..........

Listen up Pelmet this isn't the first time you've had this explained this to you.

I posted and linked on a thread back in February (8th and 9th to be precise) about the death of the Chinese doctor who tried to warn about the coronavirus outbreak. You otoh were not in the least bit interested about that back then and never even posted one single comment on the thread......,being more concerned about ensuring your overstaying in Spain with your usual self serving arrogant conceited belief Spain needed you more than you them, so spare us all your pretentious pomposity and climb down off your high horse.

It isn't because he won Brexit -

Its because of the dishonest way he won Brexit, like everything else.

(which endears him to the Tory party because its the only way they can get elected)

That's unlikely:

I'm guessing that most people, including remainers ( and probably remoaners ) will support Johnsons policy to replace the twenty thousand police that the last Tory government got rid of, but would not support the current Tory policy of delaying action to control the current virus in care homes.

Thing is to look at each policy on its merits and decide whether or not to support - regardless of who is in Government.

Malc, you can't make suggestions of that subtlety to Dave! He isn't really interested in government policy at all, only in Brexit. The only reason he's posting about Covid (apart from boredom") is that he sees criticism of his sacred Brexit government as a threat to their continuing existence, and therefore as a threat to Brexit. Everything, in Dave's world, relates to Brexit. Nothing else exists. Policy? Far too esoteric! :-D

After watching an interview with residential home careers on TV the other night, it seems that some of the infection in residential homes is due to the staff themselves. Some declined tests because they did not want to be found positive, have to go into isolation and therefore loose their wages.Others suspected or new they had the virus but still went into work for the same reason, therefore taking in and spreading the virus. When you think about it,if residential staff had gone about it the right way, the virus could possibly have been kept out of residential homes.

Can you link the interview please Brian? I expect they were care homes in the private sector a number of which have refused to pay staff that isolate at home unless they show symptoms. Many staff have been unable to get tests.

Incorrect Waldorf :D .........

My world takes a far more pragmatic view to how Boris is handling the pandemic, so far he's doing a good job......he's prevented the NHS from being overwhelmed.....he's provided a financial safety net that has ensured the vast majority of people and businesses will survive financially B-) .........

But then again my view is NOT blinkered by hatred (lol) ........

"current Tory policy of delaying action to control the current virus in care homes."

Evidence? :-| ..........

The initial policy of the govt. was to protect the NHS from being overwhelmed, and everything was done for that result.

It wasn't until April 15th that the govt. announced plans to give tests to Care Home staff and patients.

It was all over the press, I saw it in the Telegraph, but I'm sure it was in other papers.

At his first appearance at the dispatch box when Boris Johnson returned to Parliament he said that he " bitterly regretted what had happened in Care Homes "

Whoever reads your newspapers to you must have missed it.

:-|

p.s. Perhaps I should have said the delay to action in Care Homes was the Govts. " Initial" policy, not their "Current" policy, although the result is the same.

So would you have preferred Boris to have concentrated on protecting the care homes first or the NHS? :-| .......

Coz with the best will in the world the government didn't have the resources do everything at the same time ;-) .........

I think we would (as would all the now dead people) preferred that Johnson and his government had not sat on their arses for nearly seven weeks ignoring the warnings from other countries. I think we would have preferred they had not lied about stocks of PPE last year and let our stockpile become depleted. There is a long list of things we would have preferred them to do which they did not.

In light of that it was more important to protect the NHS but horse, stable door bolted. They wont give a toss about people in care homes though if we are brutally honest. Bit of a gift for them.
