An Australian news reporter on tv this morning was telling how they quarantine there. He'd just returned from working outside Oz so is currently in quarantine. He, and other returning citizens were taken by coach direct from the airport under police escort to the hotel used for quarantine. He was then escorted by to his hotel room where he has to stay for 14 days. No balcony or opening windows and meals are delivered to his locked room.

£1700 for 14 days......and they have to pay up front. Bargain!!

Would this work in Brexit Blighty?

No opening windows would be a bit grim. I would imagine these will be either airport hotels or hotels near an airport here in the UK. From experience they are not cheap. If they are to become compulsory quarantine hotels whats the betting they suddenly become more expensive? More than that £1700 I would guess for sure.

It would work here if it was the same regime and not "Oh just go off and find a hotel and behave yourself".

I guess it would stop all but absolutely essential travel but only if it was totally enforced.

How is the Island of Ireland doing Paddy? :-| ..........

Yesterday, upon the stair, I met a Pelmetman who wasn't there,

I met him there again today.

I wish that Pelmetman would go away!

Apologies to William Hughes Mearns. :-D

We really shouldn't be so dependent on the vaccine

Britain: official death toll is 100,000. For the sake of comparison, look at the following:

Taiwan: 7 (pop 24 million)

Japan: 5,200 (pop 128 million)

S Korea: 1, 400 (pop 51 million)

Australia: 909 (pop 26 million)

NZ: 25 (pop 5.2 million)

I cannot help but think Britain would have done so much better if it was an island...

How is the Island of Ireland doing Paddy? :-| ..........

Deaths 3066 (pop 4.9 million)

Deaths per million England 1496 deaths per million Ireland 620

Your point?

He's protecting his beloved Boris, a man he once asked, "would you trust Boris as PM?" and "looks like he'd sell his own Granny if there was a buyer".

Well that's the bit i'm looking forward to seeing if Government implement same as the Australians. After all Johnson was always singing the praises of Oz land so lets' see if he got the balls to have folk taken straight from aircraft to hotel on coaches under police escort and stuck in a locked hotel room for 14 days. I don't think he has.

I have a horrible feeling that Boris Johnson and Co. will be coming up with a ' medical ' reason why second jabs are no longer necessary within a few more months of the first jab, or maybe even not needed at all.

:-(

I hope not. According to the online calculator I should be notified within the next 14 days for my first jab and certainly will not be comfortable if they tell me I won't need the second for another 3 months.

It all depends on your health. If as a country there is more obesity, heart conditions, diabetes and the Health system cant cope then there are likely to be more deaths.

It doesnt matter the number of people in the country.

Look after you gut biome if you want to survive.

Very worrying link.

Full of " it's likely "- " probably " - " usually " - etc.

I can understand the current strategy of keeping people out of hospital - instead of the original plan, of stopping people getting the virus, and I hope it all works out o.k.

So you are calling out Ireland for being worse than countries currently enjoying their summers and who have been able to control the spread.

I'm guessing that you are happy that England has scored more deaths by a factor of three, you being obsessed with winning and all that?

Our surgery in Mid Suffolk has been doing the the over seventies for over a week now had mine last week no problem in and out in five minutes. ;-) ;-)

My first jab is scheduled for next Friday but have had to go today to collect a letter informing me of the appointment. When I asked why they couldn't post it they told me "in case they get lost".

For my 2nd jab it states, "you will be contacted at a later date but government guidance is 12 weeks to get more national coverage".

UK has access to 357 million doses of vaccine.

You’ll probably have to go to Belgium for your 2nd jab.

I'm guessing you missed my BBC link ;-) ........

Prof Sir David Spiegelhalter from Cambridge University has said trying to rank different countries to decide which is the worst in Europe is a "completely fatuous exercise".

You should probably stop quoting him because from your own link it shows that the deaths are probably undercounted in the UK. Sir David has long spoken out on how the Tories have miscounted or fudged the figures on everything from PPE to Deaths.

I suspect You and your new mate Captain Hinds**te will have to get your Diane Abacus's out in 4 years time, to back your claims that we have the worst Chinky Flu death rates in the WORLD ;-) ........
